Noida: The Noida Authority, in a public appeal, has asked people to avoid buying plots or flats in unauthorized housing projects located in villages including Bhangel, Salarpur and Tilapata, officials said on Wednesday.
The step was taken after the authority found that buildings were being constructed without approved maps.
In the notice issued on Tuesday evening, the authority said that there is a ban on the purchase and sale of properties including plots and flats in various Khasra numbers of Salarpur, Bhangel, Hajipur villages falling under Sector-77 of Noida.
In the notice, Noida Authority Chief Executive Officer Krishna Karunesh said, “Noida Authority land is being subject to illegal construction and encroachment by some persons/land mafia/encroachers. The land has been notified/acquired/obtained through lease – in villages Salarpur, Bhangel and Hajipur located in Noida area. The Authority has been taking action from time to time to demolish/seal such illegal constructions.”
The authority also said that notices have been issued to the encroachers to remove the illegal constructions and complaints have been lodged at police stations to register FIRs against them.
In a map, the authority has identified at least 100 Khasra numbers ranging from 700 to 800, warning potential buyers to avoid purchasing the property, officials said.
Stating that these khasras are located behind Sector 107, where there is a cluster of high-end group housing projects, the authority has warned the public against purchasing these properties as the Enforcement Directorate is also probing the sale or purchase of land in these khasras following the Supreme Court order, officials said.
The authority has also said that it will not provide any basic facilities like electricity, water, sewer, road, drain on these Khasras.
However, some residents raised questions as to how such illegal constructions, which pose major hazards, were allowed to come up in the first place.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president of Noida chapter of Uttar Pradesh Architecture Association, said, “What if there is a fire in Noida’s urban villages Bhangel, Salarpur, Baraula, Atta, Nithari, Chhajarsi, Khoda, Mamura, Chalera, Baraula? Even fire tenders cannot enter these unauthorized societies built by land mafia.”
